Marine plastic pollution has received much attention in recent years, and there has been a good deal of cleanup efforts at beaches and country parks that should be encouraged. However, we all know that if we do not stop the continuous production of plastic waste at the source, cleanups will simply be an end solution of cleaning up after those who are ultimately responsible.

 

We are not asking you to give up; instead, we would like you to join our “brand research” campaign during cleanups in order to motivate producers to take greater responsibility in waste reduction.

 

In the past year, a waste brands campaign has been brewing globally, whereby brands and categories of waste picked up at country parks and beaches are recorded then results announced. The aim is to push producers, especially those ranked the highest in the surveys or multinationals, to do more in waste reduction and recycling.

Survey on Brands of Waste PET Beverage Containers

While cleaning up the waste in country parks or beaches, record the number and brand of the collected waste PET beverage containers

Phase I

You are invited to carry out the waste PET beverage container survey before 5 September 2018. We will release the results in mid-September and acknowledge all participating parties.

This campaign is an on-going monitoring operation, with results announced annually. Therefore, you are welcome to continue your survey efforts after September.

How to join the survey?

1. Download the survey form

 

2. Complete the downloaded form while doing country park or beach cleanup

Step3: Then take photos of the plastic bottles categorizing with brands

2.For same brand with traditional Chinese, simplified Chinese or pure English, please count separately

 

3.For same brand with different volumes, please count together

 

4.For same brand with different products, please count separately into two categories: water & non-water (e.g. juice or tea)

 

 

 

5.Brands with languages other than Chinese and English, please count into others.
